Written by Chloe Chan | Feb 12, 2026 10:00:01 AM

This month we head to Manchester, United Kingdom, to shine the Employee Spotlight on Kyle Roberts, AI Engineer.

Kyle joined Vix just over a month ago and has already made an impact, supporting the business and helping teams embed better, safer and more confident use of AI tools in their work.

Read on to learn more about Kyle.

How long have you been at Vix, and what attracted you to the role?

I joined Vix at the start of the new year. I was attracted by the opportunity to build practical AI solutions that genuinely help teams every day. AI is an exciting space, and its my job to make sure that our business uses this technology reliably and safely to make positive impact.

What does your role as an AI engineer at Vix involve day to day?

Right now, I am building a custom AI solution to support teams across the business, helping people find the right information quickly and draft content more efficiently. My time is split between delivery, putting strong governance and training in place so AI is used safely and consistently, and helping to shape our AI roadmap.

What’s it been like joining the Vix team in Manchester so far?

It's been a great experience. I came from the retail sector, so learning how Vix operates in transport and mobility has been eye-opening and really enjoyable. The team has been welcoming, and the work has the right mix of challenge and momentum.

What excites you most about applying AI in the transport and mobility space?

The scale and the stakes. In transport, even small improvements can make a meaningful difference to passengers — whether that’s improving accessibility, reducing friction, or simply making the journey from A to B smoother and more reliable.

On the operator side, AI can help to drive efficiency, which has a ripple effect. When we optimise operations, reduce costs, or improve decision-making, it frees up resources that can be reinvested into better services and stronger networks.

It's a sector where responsible AI really matters, and I'm excited to build AI solutions that are not only innovative, but also secure, resilient, and trusted.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?

Move quickly, but do it with intent. Failing fast is valuable, but only if you are learning and iterating safely. I have also learned that adoption is as important as the technology itself, especially when there is uncertainty or fear around AI. Clear governance, good training, and a security-first mindset are essential.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Most of my time outside work is spent with my family. I enjoy cooking when I get the chance, and a lot of evenings are dedicated to keeping up with my toddler, which definitely counts as cardio!

Is there a fun fact about you that people at Vix might not know yet?

I am a big music fan and I occasionally DJ. I also have a classic developer habit of building things instead of buying them. This includes attempting to “solve” learning Portuguese by building an AI agent trained on Portuguese, rather than just sitting down and learning it. I am still attempting to make progress though, mainly so I can chat with my partner’s family.
