Employee Spotlight – Sydney Lindeman, Office Manager, Manchester

This month we head to Manchester, United Kingdom to shine the Employee Spotlight on Sydney Lindeman, Office Manager.

Sydney has been with Vix & Kuba since March 2025 and has played a key role in helping set up our new central Manchester Global HQ and welcoming new employees. She’s quickly become a friendly face around the office.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you came to join us?

I'm an American from Atlanta, but have lived in the UK for 12 years - 11 of those in Manchester. I initially moved here in 2004 and stayed until in 2015. After nearly 10 years back in the U.S. I moved back to Manchester last year. I absolutely love this city and am so excited to be living here again, and working with Vix to set-up their fantastic new headquarters.

What has been the most exciting part of helping set up our new Manchester HQ?

For me, it’s been exciting watching the design team’s progress during the office fit-out. It really is amazing how quickly they have transformed the space and brought our vision to life.

Any fun or memorable moments from getting the office ready or welcoming the team?

We have a great team here in Manchester, and we’ve gotten to know each other quite well whilst working in the small temporary office we were using prior to moving into our new suite.  We went out for a team dinner last week - with special guest attendance from Jacob Crook (Global IT Operations Manager), Aaron Ross (CEO) and Tom Buerbaum (Chief Information and Security Officer) - to celebrate moving into our new space. It was a fun night with good food and lots of laughs, and it was nice to get to know everyone when they weren’t in “work mode”.

What does a typical day look like for you as an Office Manager?

Well, up until now it’s been anything but typical around here! We've had a recruitment drive going on, onboarding team members while also focusing on getting the new space refurbished. Now that we have possession of the HQ space, my days will be spent doing a variety of things including behind the scenes office administration, keeping the office running smoothly, greeting and hosting visitors, onboarding staff and suppliers, organising team events, embedding Vix in the local business community, and keeping staff morale high. I’m looking forward to building a really positive culture in our Manchester office.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone starting in a similar role?

I believe it’s important for anyone in an Office Manager role to have a service mindset, and to genuinely care about their colleagues’ comfort, safety and wellbeing. My advice would be to consider a different role if you do not enjoy looking after people!

How do you wind down after work?

I live in Manchester City Centre and love spending time walking around experiencing the buzz of the different neighbourhoods. I also enjoy hosting my son and his girlfriend, or my friends for dinner or drinks in my flat. I live on the 22nd floor and have a fantastic view of the vibrant Deansgate area, so sometimes I unwind by just sitting and staring out the window, watching the city do its thing.
